The Good Luck Bar at 1 Fox Street, Jo’burg provided the best setting for GoodLuck to host their Johannesburg album launch party. Located in the more quiet side of Johannesburg CBD, The Good Luck Bar is a warehouse that was converted into a bar and has had a liquor license since the 19th century. The warehouse was then converted into a dream play ground for electro pop lovers this past Friday evening.
GoodLuck publicists, InfinitePR invited us to be VIP guests at the album launch. Upon arrival we queued up to get an opportunity to get photos taken by a professional photographer. All who attended should then follow GoodLuck on social media platforms to see when the photos will be posted. Entry was also seamless, proving once again why the option of getting pre-sold tickets serves event organisers well.
We were then treated to two complementary drinks courtesy of Black Bottle Whiskey as platters of mini burgers, sushi and various finger snacks kept on being passed around for the vip guests.
Once everyone had settled in and the door tickets were sold out, it was then time for the party to begin. Johannesburg based folk swing band Rubber Duc, were the first to take to the stage. The all-boy band who describe themselves as the love kids of Mango Groove, gave us a sterling performance including their own renditions done on old South African classics.
Straightly after that Timo ODV came on to give a sensational songs which the crowd gladly sang along to. The gold selling Dj / producer / singer has a couple of songs on rotating on Trace Urban tv. So this performance provided an opportunity for all his fans to experience a live set with live vocals which they are familiar with.
Then came on the band of the evening, GoodLuck. The Cape Town based band once again gave a good display of high energy and engaged performance. Just having returned from Vietnam and Amsterdam, one would have expected a low energy performance. However GoodLuck is not about that life as they proved once again as to why they are considered one of SA’s top performers.
The band started to with some of their familiar songs and then later on introduced their news songs taken from “The Nature Within” album. One song which promises to be a popular favourite would have to be “Kota” where the band features house music duo, Black Motion.
After sensational performances, patrons were treated to cd signings and goodie pack give aways sponsored by: GoodLuck, Black Bottle, Case Logic SA, Nena & Pasadena SA and Levi’s SA.
GoodLuck are making waves in the South African music festival scene. Ticketstroom will surely ride on the wave to ensure that you as followers stay in the know. We are also on Facebook and Twitter.
