South Africa is a wonderful country, even more so in the summertime. With the Jacarandas in the Highveld and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean in Kwa-Zulu Natal, celebrities, both international and domestic love the motherland sun. And for a special week in November, South Africa will be home to the first ESSENCE FESTIVAL® in Durban.
With its roots in New Orleans, the festival is being brought to Mzansi, in fantastic fashion, for the very first time, which we hope will not be the last. Michele Ebanks, President of ESSENCE®, has been quoted on the festival website saying that New Orleans and Durban are sister cities; let us hope that will make all the international speakers and artists feel closer to home.
We are heading into the final weekend of festivities and growth, with seminars and workshops aimed at empowerment. The speakers that will be present are an amazing list of real life portraits of success, among them Steve Harvey and Nondumiso Temba.
If you think it ends there, a party is to be had at Moses Mabida Stadium. On Saturday, 12th November, there shall be no sleep for those living around that area. The ESSENCE® All Star Music Festival will be blasting sweet sounds into the Durban night summer air. Amazing acts set to amazing on stage, if you buy your ticket. Ranging from R200-R450, you can enjoy performances from the likes of Ne-Yo, Burna Boy, Black Coffee and Babes Wodumo.
There is only so much one can say, so for more information go onto essence.com for bookings, flight to Durban, even accommodation and the full list of speakers and artists. Make sure you are there, like the tagline says, “New Orleans was great Durban’s gonna be amazing.”
Make sure you catch the final weekend of the festival. If you cannot make it, Ticketsroom will update you on the thrills that will be the ESSENCE FESTIVAL® in Durban. Make sure to keep following on www.ticketstroom.co.za to catch every detail.
